Filled with the drink two oak casks were left in Renorvil' monastery. Monks ravaged the first cask at once and the second cask was stored. So brandy was born.

Brandy is the youngest from all of the known drinks. And although the wine spirits which it is made of were known yet to the ancient Greeks the history of this elite drink counts only 300 years.

First on the land where brandy is distilled now viticulture appeared in the last fourth of the 3d age when the Roman emperor Probus let Gauls to be engaged in the vine making that was spread only in few cities. At the beginning of XVII age the process of distillation used by alchemists and chemists for the receipt of alcohol in medical aims was firstly used in large scales in the vine making. And in 1641 by the French skilled craftsmen from a department of Sharanta the special distilling machine was invented for receiving from brandy alcohol the basic raw material for the brandy distilling. From that moment vine-makers learned how to get the new drink.

A little later at the end of XVII age the first brandy houses were created some of them exist till now.

In the 1701 in the French-English war-time the English fleet blocked France cutting transporting of brandy alcohols. They had to languish in oak casks for a long time, but as a result of the protracted maturing its taste qualities were only improved. So was opened one of basic secrets of brandy distilling technology.

Till the 1860 year brandy was transported exceptionally in casks and the name of producer remained unknown for a consumer. Then they were supplied in original bottles with firm labels. Nowadays brandy trade is getting up. The universally recognized country of classic brandy production is France its experience is carefully studied and used in many countries of the world.
